GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN ISLAMABAD

PRESS RELEASE
Message form H.E. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the Occasion of Labour Day – 1st May, 2018
Islamabad: April 30, 2018
Pakistan joins the international community in honouring the heroic struggle of the workers of Chicago who gave up their lives for a fair and just working environment that would guarantee the fundamental rights of labour. Today, we pay tribute to the valiant workers of Pakistan and around the world, and reaffirm our commitment to the dignity of labour.
Every year, the first day of May provides us the opportunity to acknowledge the sacrifices and invaluable contributions of workers to the development, progress and prosperity of their nations across the globe. Pakistan’s dynamic workforce is the real momentum behind our progress. The government’s goal of rapid, inclusive and sustainable growth is only being realised because of our hardworking, dedicated and committed workforce.
I take this opportunity to assure Pakistan’s workers that the Federal Government is fully committed to taking all measures, in cooperation with the provincial governments, to enhance the welfare of workers and their families as well as to raise their standards of living. We understand very well that only a healthy, happy, well-educated and well-paid workforce will enable Pakistan to attain its full social and economic potential, and this is what we are working towards with complete sincerity of purpose.
Workers and employers are partners in the effort for national development, and I urge them to work in concert to equip themselves with the most modern technologies of production in order to keep pace with global challenges and successfully face the ever-increasing competition in the world market.
I convey my heartfelt felicitations and earnest wishes to Pakistan’s entire workforce, and reiterate the government’s resolve to protect the rights of all our people and to work for their collective wellbeing, for only then will Pakistan take its rightful position in the comity of nations.

No.120/2018
Office of the Spokesperson – Press Release
Message by the President of Pakistan on the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ – 06 April 2018
The Government and the people of Pakistan reaffirm their continued and resolute moral, diplomatic and political support to the oppressed people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their valiant struggle for the fundamental right to self determination.
The recent mindless killing spree carried out by the Indian security forces that took away lives of more than 20 Kashmiri youth and injured in excess of 200 unarmed protestors are a testament to the atrocities being perpetrated against the innocent Kashmiris. In their historic struggle, the courageous and determined people of IOK have rendered unparalleled sacrifices. Indian state terrorism has failed to deter the people of IoK from their struggle for freedom from Indian oppression.
Pakistan calls upon the international community to be cognizant of its responsibilities in the matter and urge India to facilitate the visit of independent Fact Finding teams of OHCHR and IPHRC to look into the gross human rights violations in IoK being perpetrated by Indian occupation forces and to fulfill its obligations under UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir.
